"A Dagger Pointed At The Heart Of Irish America"
“Under the proposed US/UK Extradition Treaty, American citizens will
be denied their right to a meaningful judicial hearing before being
extradited to the UK. The Irish American Unity Conference (IAUC)
strongly opposes this treaty” says Dr. Robert Linnon, IAUC President.
Internationally renowned law Professor Frances A. Boyle said: “This
Treaty is a British dagger pointed at Irish-Americans and others who
disagree with the UK’s political point of view.
“The Senate Foreign Relations Committee must reject this Treaty
outright. There is no way this unconstitutional and illegal Treaty can
be salvaged by amendments or understandings.
“The current treaty between the United States and the British is more
than sufficient to secure the extradition of alleged criminals. This
proposed Treaty will guarantee the persecution of Irish American
citizens, voters, and taxpayers by the British government."
Dr. Linnon, Professor Boyle and other Irish American leaders will
testify against this treaty at a Senate Committee hearing in
Washington, DC on July 21, 2006. The IAUC urges all its members and
friends to contact their Senators to express their disapproval of this
treaty.
