SCOTTISH FASHION SUGGESTIONS FOR MEN
Dianna's Note: These are examples generally considered "correct" in
Scotland; however, we will not be calling the "fashion police" if you make
other choices :-)
FOR MEN:
DAYWEAR:
Kilt; Plain style Tweed Jacket; Five Button Waistcoat in matching tweed;
Plain Wool tie to complement both kilt and jacket; Plain leather sporran;
Plain toning kilt hose; Flashes; Plain Brogues; Kilt Pin; Sgian Dubh; Plain
Shirt; If not wearing the waistcoat a belt is an option.
SEMI FORMALWEAR (Day or Evening):
Kilt; Argyll Jacket; Black Barathea five button waistcoat; Plain leather or
semi formal Sporran; Plain wool tie or black bow tie for the evening; Plain
kilt hose; Flashes; Ghillie Brogues or plain brogues; Kilt Pin; Sgian Dubh;
Plain Shirt; If not wearing the waistcoat a belt is an option.
The Jacobean Highland outfit offers a rugged, youthful choice of
highlandwear; an excellent choice for less formal occasions and
Scottish-themed weddings.
EVENING WEAR:
Kilt; Coatee and Vest; Dress Sporran; Black bow tie or plain bow tie to
match Jacket colour. Cream, toning to match Jacket colour, diced or tartan
hose; Flashes; Buckle brogues or Ghillie Brogues; Kilt Pin; Sgian Dubh;
Plain or wing collar shirt; Plaid (optional)
Not all Highlanders choose to wear the kilt. Tailored Highland Trews along
with the Prince Charlie jacket make a good combination for formal evening
dress.
The less formal straight-backed Argyll jacket makes a popular alternative to
the Prince Charlie outfit for eveningwear and special occasions. The leather
topped semi-dress sporran is the correct accessory for this
HATS: Generally hats are only worn outdoors.
TIES: Tartan ties are generally not worn with a kilt outfit
TARTANS: Generally tartans, even of the same clan, are not mixed.
THANK YOU TO REBECCA ROBERTS FOR ASSISTANCE WITH THIS INFO.
You can view examples of the above on Rebecca's website:

THEATER: PLAY "PROOF"
By David Auburn
Sheryl Stanley, Director
Fridays & Saturdays, 8 pm, Oct. 29 ~ Nov. 20.
Sunday, November 7th, 3 pm
Presented by Theatre Southwest, The Marie Pearsall Theatre.
From: "Sheryl C. Stanley" < sstanley2@houston.rr.com >
Sheryl writes in part: "Proof is a Pulitzer prize winner, and one of the
finest plays I have ever read."
Proof of devotion.
Proof of sanity.
Proof of genius.
Proof of love.
Proof, living on the borderline of genius and mental illness, proves nothing
so much as that the most difficult mathematical concept may be easier to
prove than the simplest human emotion.
Reservations: (713) 661-9505 or tickets@theatresouthwest.org
We are proud to be recognized by and funded in part by the Cultural Arts
Council of Houston/Harris County.
Dianna's Note: We can make this a group outing and probably get a special
rate if you're interested.
